Technical Sessions
During technical sessions many customer case studies discussed using Progress technology to develop and deploy their business applications. Highlights included:
- Kevin Ryer from Apprise showed how they are transforming from a Progress front end with mixed business language and User Interface to a .NET front end with Progress AppServer-based business logic.
- Stephen Davies of Boehringer Ingelheim discussed the tall order of figuring out how to meet the challenges of global project management and changing management concepts in a federated SOA infrastructure.
- Wanda Himler and Geoff Nichols discussed how and why US Airways migrated their USAirwaysVacations.com application to OpenEdge 10.1.
- Brian Preece showed how new features in OpenEdge 10.1 helped him to develop a next generation PoS, using WebClient, ProDataSets, and SonicMQ to provide semi-disconnected reliable messaging between the store and head office.
- Karen Kauffman, Chris Longo and Rick Terrell discussed a methodology developed by Precision Strip for generating shipping and invoicing PDF formatted documents in a real time environment using Crystal Reports, ABL and Acrobat Adobe.
- Three partners, Progressive Solutions Incorporated, Orchard Information Systems and Precision Computer Systems, discussed how and why they transformed their applications based on business needs using different technical approaches.
- Buck Stuart of Great American Insurance Company talked about their enterprise SOA implementation and the discoveries made along the way.
- Manuvis discussed how implementing Apama with their OpenEdge application enhanced their business and their bottom line.
