Craig Newfield

Craig Newfield is the Senior Vice President and General Counsel for Progress Software. In this role, he is responsible for all company legal matters, including corporate governance, contracts, business practices, intellectual property, mergers & acquisitions, SEC compliance and regulatory affairs.
Newfield manages a department which provides a full range of legal services supporting the company's global operations. He ensures that the legal organization is aligned with and promotes the strategic, field and business goals of Progress. He also keeps the company well ahead of the curve on compliance and provides counsel to the Board of Directors.
Before joining Progress, Newfield served as general counsel for a total of six software companies over 15 years, including enterprise software companies AMICAS, MRO Software and Interleaf. Each of these companies was successful in different stages of their lifecycles, and all of them were acquired in strategic transactions by public companies. His experience also includes several years in large and small Boston law firms.
Newfield holds a Master of Science degree in management from the MIT Sloan School of Management, and he received his Juris Doctor Degree from Boston College Law School.
