Charles Kane

Charles Kane has held multiple leadership positions in the technology industry and was most recently a strategic advisor and board member of  the "One Laptop per Child" initiative, a non-profit organization founded at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) that provides computing and Internet access for students in the developing world.  Kane was previously president and chief operating officer of this organization.  Prior to OLPC, Kane was a founding investor and executive officer of the Special Purpose Acquisition Company, Global BPO Services which raised $250 million in capital and purchased Stream Global Services (STRM).  Before this, he was the chief financial officer of RSA Security, a provider of security software, which was acquired by EMC Corporation. Other former positions include CFO of Aspen Technology, president and CEO of Corechange, Inc., and CFO of Informix Software.    

Kane is on the Board of Directors of Progress Software (NASDQ: PRGS), Netezza Corporation(NZ), Applix Software(APLX-sold to Cognos Corporation), and Borland Software(BORL-sold to Micro Focus Corporation).  Kane is an adjunct professor of International Finance at the MIT Sloan Graduate Business School of Management and is a frequent speaker at national events related to international financial strategies as well as social entrepreneurship.
