Progress Software Wins 2007 World BSS Award for Excellence with DataXtend Semantic Integrator
Progress® DataXtend™ Semantic Integrator is Recognized as Innovation Leader Among Suppliers to the Telecommunications Industry in Billing and Management
BEDFORD, Mass., (BUSINESS WIRE)
03-Jul-2007
Progress Software Corporation (NASDAQ: PRGS), a global supplier of application infrastructure software used to develop, deploy, integrate and manage business applications, today announced that it has won a 2007 World BSS (Business Support Systems )Award in the category of Innovation in Billing and Information Management.
The World BSS Awards, presented by IIR's Billing and Information Management Systems conference and widely regarded as the highest industry recognition of business support systems excellence, acknowledge best billing practices and seeks to help raise awareness of the significance of billing, charging and information management processes within the communications industry. The Billing and Information Management Innovation Award category recognizes organizations that have demonstrated enhanced functionality in their product or service offering, approach to market and/or business modelling or methodology.
Progress Software was chosen as the winner based on a major CRM IT transformation project, which included the implementation of a common front-end to operations support systems/business support systems (OSS/BSS). For this task, Progress Software provided a shared information/data (SID) based data integration solution based on Progress® DataXtend™ Semantic Integrator.
Progress DataXtend provides a common semantic data model to help facilitate sophisticated data transformations, enabling organizations to integrate heterogeneous data sources in an SOA, reducing the cost and time required to integrate OSS/BSS applications by 50% or more.
"2007 definitely saw a return of confidence to the BSS sector, and this was reflected in the broad scope and level of innovation demonstrated in all of the nominations that we chose as finalists," said Hugh Roberts, Chairman of the Awards Judging Panel and Consultant Director for IIR's BSS/OSS and RM events. "The judging process is never an easy one to bring to a conclusion, but we feel we have selected some outstanding companies and projects to carry the standards of excellence in BSS forward. In 2006 we recognized the significance of the developments being made by Progress Software [then nominated as Pantero] with the award in the 'Best Integration Project' category of the World BSS Awards. This year the judges have acknowledged the substantial and innovative additional work that the team has undertaken in the past twelve months."
"Progress Software continues to demonstrate that a lot of TeleManagement Forum theory can be applied successfully in practice," continues co-Judge, Barbara Lancaster, President of LTC International. "We need much more of this innovative thinking to begin to achieve the vision of 'lean operator' that is the only way for carriers to become competitive in an all-IP world."
Billing & Information Management Systems is the flagship event in IIR's Billing, IT, Customer Care & Revenue Management portfolio of conferences, offering attendees an unparalleled opportunity to interact with key industry decision makers and influencers. The winners of IIR's prestigious World BSS Awards 2007 were announced on June 8, during the Billing & Information Management Systems Gala Dinner at the Great Hall of the Honourable Society of Lincoln's Inn in London.
