Dutch postal services company chooses Responsive Business Integration
Rotterdam, The Netherlands
14-Nov-2011
Progress Software Corporation (NASDAQ: PRGS), a leading software provider that enables enterprises to be operationally responsive, today announced that PostNL, the Dutch postal services company, has chosen the Progress® Responsive Business Integration (RBI) solution to improve its comprehensive e-commerce offering (Integrator Platform). Progress’ solution supports PostNL e-Commerce, a business unit of PostNL to improve PostNL e-Commerce’s experience in online, offline and back-end systems and integrates a broad array of services including retail, marketing, web, payment, fulfillment, delivery and customer services. Enterprises can outsource one or all of these services to PostNL e-Commerce, in order for them to manage and integrate the complete e-commerce supply chain with the PostNL Integrator. Progress’ solutions will enable PostNL to extend the e-commerce offering and support PostNL’s growth strategy.
Progress will deliver a suite of solutions to PostNL for the Integrator platform for it to scale and provide more flexibility than the traditional methods of service delivery. With this investment PostNL aims to increase its existing customer base and connect with new partners.
The Progress RBI solution delivers comprehensive enterprise integration and includes three key attributes:
- Integration of the many different, disparate applications and services across the e-commerce supply chain, based on the industry’s only true 100% up-time enterprise messaging infrastructure incorporated in the Progress Sonic® Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) product.
- Accurate data transformation to ensure precise information exchange (that leverages the industry standard ARTS common data model) with the Progress DataXtend® Semantic Integrator product.
- Guaranteed optimal business outcomes by ensuring no transaction is lost through end-to-end visibility, monitoring and governance using the Progress Actional® platform.
Roy Rachman, Director e-Commerce Operations at PostNL, said: “The implementation of the new Progress RBI solutions meets our needs to grow our company and offer improved online services. Our goal is to further leverage the real-time capabilities with the use of the RBI solution and enable our clients to implement multichannel marketing strategies that combine ‘bricks and mortar’ and online commerce.”
Roy Rachman continues: “To operate a business in real-time, it is critical that the data across the supply chain is available and accessible in real-time as well. By upgrading our platform we are able to meet customer needs and increase the efficiency with our partners in the supply chain, This allows us to achieve a higher level of business performance for our clients.”
The implementation, that has already started, will support PostNL e-Commerce’s customers ,including; WE Fashion, MS Mode, Praxis, Kruidvat, Expresso and other retailers, by the end of 2011.
Guy Courtin, industry director of supply chain solutions, Progress Software, said: “The Progress Responsive Business Integration solution underpins PostNL e-Commerce’s Integrator platform and enables them to offer full supply chain services to both new and existing customers. In the near future, PostNL e-commerce will extend the Progress solutions for their own web shops (e.g. KadoWereld.nl) and new initiatives like PostNL’s digital post office (postkantoor.nl)
“These new services are key to PostNL’s growth strategy, and offer a unique end-to-end delivery solution in the Dutch market. It is great to see Progress’ technology enabling the delivery of new e-commerce services and enhancing PostNL’s exceptional service levels that will be the foundation of its success into 2012 and beyond.”
