Kenneth Rugg Named as Finalist for the 2006 Mass Technology Leadership Awards; Mass Technology Leadership Council Awards Recognize Outstanding Technology Development, Implementation and Leadership

BEDFORD, Mass. (BUSINESS WIRE)
17-Jul-2006

Progress Software Corporation (PRGS) a global supplier of application infrastructure software used to develop, deploy, integrate and manage business applications, today announced that Kenneth Rugg, vice president of products for Progress Software's DataXtend(R) and ObjectStore(R) product lines, has been named as a finalist for the Mass Technology Leadership Council's 2006 Mass Technology Leadership Awards. Rugg and other finalists were named at an event held at the British Consulate on June 28.

The Mass Technology Leadership Awards honor Massachusetts companies and individuals who best exemplify leadership and excellence in business and technology. These awards, which recognize outstanding achievement in the development and implementation of information technology, build on the traditions of the Massachusetts Software Council and the New England Business and Technology Association (NEBATA), the two organizations that merged last year to form the Massachusetts Technology Leadership Council.

"The Mass Technology Leadership Council is committed to fostering entrepreneurship and promoting the success of companies that develop and deploy technology across industry sectors. These awards are an important part of this effort," said Joyce Plotkin, president of the Mass Technology Leadership Council. "The finalists for this year's honors represent the spirit of innovation, the history of accomplishment and the future promise that define the Massachusetts technology community."

Ken Rugg is responsible for the strategic direction and development of the DataXtend product line for data integration across heterogeneous databases and the ObjectStore object-oriented database for high-performance data management and access. These products are crucial components for businesses struggling to manage and derive value from ever-growing amounts of data that is changing constantly.

"It's an honor to be recognized by the Mass Technology Leadership Council," said Rugg. "Being chosen as a finalist with all of the great technology companies in Massachusetts is a reflection of the innovative work being done throughout Progress Software. Progress was also recently named one of the most influential technology companies by Intelligent Enterprise magazine and named to the SD Times 100 leading software companies for the fourth straight year. Progress is committed to providing its customers with leading edge solutions that deliver meaningful and measurable results and I'm proud to play a part in that."

Winners of the awards will be announced on October 11, at an Awards Banquet to be held at the Boston Marriott Copley Place Hotel on Wednesday, October 11. The Banquet will also feature a keynote address by Bruce Chizen, CEO of Adobe.
