Progress HealthCheck Service Program

In today's highly competitive environment, you need to gain and maintain your advantage to overcome your competition. To make sure your operations are running at peak efficiency, periodic examination of your system environment is key to improved performance and early detection of potential problems.

Duration

The system health check is a 2-day service that includes:

  • one and a half days of on-site consulting service
  • half day of offsite report generation and documentation

Schedule

We recommend periodic health checks to be conducted as a preventative service to identify potential problems before they become emergencies. To that end, we recommend health check services once every quarter or semi-annually. The frequency depends on your needs and how fast your infrastructure grows.

Keep your systems running at peak efficiency and effectiveness with our System Health Check. No one knows Progress better than Progress Software Professional Services. The Health Check service for OpenEdge customers is a periodic assessment to determine the operating condition and current performance of your OpenEdge applications. In order to determine the area need to be addressed, 3 basic steps are involved:

  • Analyze: Examine the components involved in the system environment such as the Progress RDBMS startup parameters, performance indicators, background writers and disk I/O activity, etc.
  • Bottlenecks Identification: Based upon the analysis information, identify performance bottlenecks and potential problems
  • Recommendation: Provide adjustment recommendation such as startup parameter value, database architecture, use of background writers, etc

* Server Analysis: examination and assessment of the utilization of the hardware configuration including the CPU(s), memory and disks.

* Environment Analysis: a review of how well the SonicMQ Broker and/or Sonic ESB is working within your existing infrastructure.

* Performance Analysis: analyzes and detect performance bottlenecks that affect your overall system performance.

* Disaster Recovery Analysis: in case of disaster the SonicMQ and/or Sonic ESB infrastructure can be restored immediately on the new server.

* Server Analysis: examination and assessment of the utilization of the hardware configuration including the CPU(s), memory and disks.

* Environment Analysis: a review of how well the OpenEdge software environment is being utilized including its architecture, background processes, start-up parameters.

* Database Condition: analyzes how well the database is designed and structured and what the implications are for system performance.

* Disaster Recovery Analysis: evaluation of the status and potential effectiveness of your disaster recovery plan, backup strategy and redundancy.

At the end of the health check service, your Progress consultant will deliver a written report detailing the condition and recommendations for improvements in your environment. Areas of recommendations include:

  • Server hardware
  • SonicMQ/Sonic ESB environment
  • Performance enhancement recommendations
  • Disaster recovery plans

This report is provided in a standardized format so that you can compare with past health checks to identify areas of needs as your infrastructure grows.
