Progress Apama Research Studio and EventStore

Progress® Apama® Research Studio and EventStore provide sophisticated backtesting and analysis for the Progress Apama environment. They enable Apama users to investigate the likely behavior of Apama Scenarios prior to deployment, as well as analyze the actual performance of those Scenarios already in production.

Progress Apama provides a sophisticated set of backtesting and analysis capabilities via its Progress Apama Research Studio module. Research Studio delivers a TiVo®-like event replay capability that allows Scenario developers to interactively explore the prospective behavior of Apama Scenarios (such as new trading strategies) prior to deployment. Research Studio also supports "digital forensics" operations that allow users to audit the performance of Apama strategies already in deployment.

Research Studio works with Progress Apama EventStore, a comprehensive time series data store. EventStore captures and manages both native event stream data received by Apama from external sources, as well as "derived" events that result from any analytical calculations and actions that result from Apama Scenario execution.

Research Studio and EventStore provide tremendous flexibility in the options available to users. Backtesting and analysis can include all events received within the EventStore or only selected event streams. Likewise, users can choose specific segments of time from the past (e.g. an entire day, a specific 30 minute period, or any user chosen time slice). Additionally, replay speeds can be accelerated many times the actual live speeds, or slowed down or paused for more careful exploration of event processing operations. EventStore also support export of event segments into third party environments for query and analysis.
